Congratulations to Layne who has been selected to appear on the cover of this year’s Sydney Business & Government White Pages® book, to be distributed throughout Sydney from 12 July 2012.
This year’s Covers Program theme, A Helping Hand, The Aussie Way, recognises Layne for helping young women achieve their dreams by establishing the Layne Beachley Aim for the Stars Foundation in 2003.
Laynes Aim for th
e Stars Foundation has provided more than $400,000 in funding to hundreds of ambitious young women, including athletes, musicians, artists, academics and environmentalists. The grants help recipients afford costs including travel and tuition.
Much more than the foundation’s namesake, Layne is involved in all aspects of its success. Layne selects the grant recipients, meets them and personally mentors them to strive for success. She also uses her profile to encourage others to get behind the foundation and its goals. This Foundation is all about empowering and enabling individuals to take control
of their lives, to invest in their future and fulfil their potential.
Each year, Sensis, the publisher of the White Pages®, recognises the efforts of local people in their communities by celebrating their achievements on the cover of its books. The theme for this year’s covers, A Helping Hand, The Aussie Way, was inspired by the thousands of Australians who go above and beyond to help someone in need, or their local community when times are tough.
