Maya is extremely passionate about mountain bike riding and ultimately would like to become a professional. Maya has been competing for 4 years and has advanced to a National status in a very short time. Her achievements over the last 12 months (2009) in cross country mountain biking have been remarkable placing 1st in Australian National Championships U17 women, 1st in QLD State Championships U17 women, 1st in QLD Sunshine Series U19 women, 1st 08/09 Australian Mountain Bike Series U17 women, 1st 3 Person Team, 4 hour challenge, Twin Peaks. Maya has recently started 4-Cross events in addition to Cross –Country and will compete in both at the National Junior Women’s and State Open Women’s events this year. Maya competed in the national championships at the start of this year winning 3rd in cross country and 1st in 4 cross for U17 women. She was also awarded the Gold Coast Women Cross Country Rider of the Year for 2009.

When did you start?
I started in year 6 and have been riding for 4 years

Career highlight or biggest achievement?
Winning Nationals for Cross Country in 2009 and winning Nationals in 2010 for Four Cross

What is your dream?
To represent Australia in Mountain Biking

Sam Hill and my brother Roshin

I love to paint and do Art

'nothing is impossible'
When I am riding or racing I usually have a song stuck in my head, just one line repeating over and over. It keeps me in rhythm.

How the grant will help you/how will you use the money?
It will go towards my new Cross Country Bike and upgrading my Four Cross Bike
