Volleyball is the second largest sport in the world. Rachel’s ambition is to become a professional volleyball player recognised on the world stage. “She is potentially the best athlete I have seen at the A.I.S in the last 8 years,” says National Volleyball Coach, Mark Barnard. As Captain of the under 17 Queensland team, Rachel led her team to Gold at the Junior Nationals. A member of the Australian Women’s senior team, Captain of the Australian Youth Olympics team and named as a member of the shadow Olympic team; the Beijing Olympics in 2008 could certainly become a reality for Rachel Rourke.

Year 8 at school, 13 years old.

CAREER HIGHLIGHT AND BIGGEST ACHIEVMENT?
- Travelling overseas to 4 different places over a period of 12 months for the National Youth (born 88 and younger) and Junior (born 86 and younger) Australian Teams.
- The biggest achievement would be Being selected into the Australian Senior team to go to China for the World Championships Qualifying Tournament.
- To play at the Olympics and in a professional league overseas in Europe.
